My name is Jadah but my friends call me Jade or J- whatever works. I was put into school a little too early and my parents/teachers decided it was in my best interest to hold me back a year in the first grade. I believe that this decision was key in shaping me into the person I am today. I went from being the youngest and a little behind in my grade to being the oldest and more knowledgeable. I gained more self confidence and others viewed me as a leader. Consequently through my entire life I have held these same characteristics and I believe that moment was pivotal in shaping who I am today. I think that my entire life I have been very sheltered and going off to college so far from home (in Kansas) my world view changed a lot. I live in what people like to jokingly call "the Johnson co...more >>unty bubble" and never really seen much outside of my little corner of Kansas. The decision to branch out from all of my friends who went in-state and move across the country has allowed me to appreciate all that I have and gained a better view on what I want in my own life. The never-ending support of my dad has been crucial to this, because without him, I would not be where I am today. Lastly, the most recent event that has altered my life in a beneficial way was my decision to go greek and join one of the nation's best sororities, Delta Zeta. It is truly an experience that is difficult to describe but one that has opened my eyes to a whole new world. I have learned a lot this past year about giving without expecting in return, patience and understanding and holding myself to a higher level of excellence just because I am part of something greater than myself. I strive to make them proud and live my creed in my daily life. The happiness and love that I have found by joining DZ is eternal and will truly affect me for the rest of my life.
