Input basic information

Title
Input a title for your timeline. (Warning: the original title you enter is the permanent URL assigned to your timeline.)

Language
Select the language of your timeline.

Photo
Click on Browse to upload a cover photo from your computer. This photo will represent your timeline. Square photos work best.

Category
Select which category your timeline best fits into. If you are unsure, take a look at the category descriptions.

Tags
Tags or "keywords" are words that help users find your timeline. In a timeline about President Bush, some relevant tags might be: "president, united states, american, texas".

You are required to input at least one tag.

Related links
Type in the source of information or pictures you used to develop the timeline. Please make sure you give proper credit to all non-original sources. You will also have a place to do this for individual events in the timeline.

Description
Write a short description of the timeline. This will be displayed for users to understand what your timeline is about.

Adding events

Title
Input a title for the event.

Date (and Time)
Set the date the event took place. It is optional to specify a time for the event. This is intended for timelines with a short timeframe.

If the event took place over a period of time, click the check box and enter the end date (and time).

Tags
Tags or "keywords" are words that help users to find your timeline. In an event about "Graduating from College", some relevant tags might be: "college, graduation, personal, life".
Adding events

Media (pictures, video...)
We encourage users to add media to each event since that makes the timeline look nicer. Also, as the saying goes, an image is worth a thousand words!

There are two choices for placing media on an event.

Option a. Upload Photo
Choose a photo from your computer to upload to our site.

Option b. Embed Media
Photos from external site:
copy in the URL of the image

Videos from Youtube, Metacafe:
copy in the embed code

Slideshows from Slide, Rockyou:
copy in the embed code

Description
Write a description of the event. The first 600 characters can be viewed on the main timeline. Don't worry though -- all of the information will be on the Event Details page.
